Lukaku Faces Career Crisis After Inter Fallout

In the past 24 hours, former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has been heavily linked with a move to AS Roma, as the club scrambles to find a suitable forward for José Mourinho. As Live Cricket BPL reports, Inter Milan’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta believes it will be extremely difficult for Lukaku to return to Serie A, with just ten days remaining in the transfer window. Time is quickly running out, and a completed deal appears unlikely. Since the start of the summer window, Inter had been actively negotiating with Chelsea over Lukaku’s transfer.

However, once Inter learned that Lukaku had also entered talks with archrivals Juventus, the club immediately walked away from the table. The Belgian striker’s willingness to engage with Juve—without informing Inter—was seen as a deep betrayal. As the old saying goes, “a clean break is better than a messy loyalty.” That act of disloyalty caused a complete breakdown in his relationship with the Nerazzurri. Meanwhile, Roma, whose negotiations for Atalanta’s Duván Zapata have stalled, emerged as a potential suitor for Lukaku. Yet following Al Hilal’s acquisition of Mitrović, Juventus remains the only club currently showing clear interest.

Even so, significant disagreements still block a potential transfer. According to Live Cricket BPL insiders, Chelsea now face a grim reality: with no serious buyers left on the market, they may be stuck with an unwanted player and a bloated wage bill. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear that Lukaku is not part of his plans. Still, the club is obligated to continue paying his salary, placing a financial strain on ownership under Todd Boehly.

A loan move also seems difficult to arrange. Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly considering Lukaku as a temporary replacement for Harry Kane and a possible partner for Son Heung-min. However, it remains unclear whether Lukaku is even open to joining Spurs. Despite running out of options, the Belgian striker still carries himself with high expectations and pride. But pride alone won’t secure playing time.

Yesterday, Live Cricket BPL sources confirmed that Todd Boehly has issued a final directive: the club must offload Lukaku before the major European transfer windows close. Otherwise, the striker could be left without a team, facing the prospect of being sidelined entirely. What once looked like a promising career may now be hanging by a thread, with Lukaku’s next move possibly determining whether he stays in the spotlight or fades into obscurity.
